About Windsurfing

#1

Is it hard to learn how to windsurf?

No! With the right equipment and instruction, anyone can learn to windsurf - including you! We've taught kids up to 12 and adults up to 80 to windsurf safely and beautifully, and when you choose us, you get only the best and latest windsurfing equipment from Servers, as well as employing only top professional and experienced instructors. We can guarantee that a surf course with us is effective, challenging and above all: great fun! Choose your surf course Here.

#2

Does it take something special to participate?

All it takes is the desire to learn something new! The vast majority of our students have never tried windsurfing - or surfing, for that matter - before, so you're definitely not alone if you haven't had the pleasure of trying it yet. Our purpose is to spread the joy of surfing and introduce new surfers to the sport, so just come as you are, and we'll handle the rest.

#3

How old do you have to be to learn how to windsurf?

You must be at least 13 years old to participate in our windsurfing course in Amager Strandpark, and you must be able to swim at least 200 meters. However, there is no upper age limit for joining our surfing courses and we have several times hatched new windsurfers who have been older than 75 years. So grab your chance and book your first windsurfing course Here.

#4

Where in Copenhagen are your windsurfing courses carried out?

All windsurfing courses are carried out in Amager Strandpark, a beautiful space not far from the centre of Copenhagen with a blue and enticing lagoon to surf in and green park areas and a white beach to barbecue on after the course. The address of the surf school is: Amager Strand Promenaden 1, 2300 Copenhagen S - and you can find us at the tip of Strandstation 3.

#5

Do you have a wetsuit that fits me?

You bet! We have wetsuits for all sizes and shapes - whether you wear 2XS or 4XL, we have a wetsuit for you. We only use quality O'Neill wetsuits in 5/3mm thickness. So look forward to wearing a silky wetsuit that will keep you warm and dry when you head out on your next windsurfing course in Amager Strandpark.

#6

What should I bring?

You only need to bring swimwear (for under the wetsuit), a towel and sunscreen - we'll take care of the rest! If you get hungry or thirsty, we have a well-stocked bar with cool drinks for the summer heat, hot coffees for the autumn temperatures, and crispy, warm sourdough paninis if you've worked up an appetite.

#7

What about changing and storing personal belongings?

We have changing facilities at the surf school, and we take good care of your stuff and keep it safe while you have fun on the water with our instructors and the other surfers.

#8

Is it possible to take a shower after the surf course?

After a windsurfing course you might wish to take a shower. That's why we have outdoor showers at the surf school to let you rinse the salt water out of your hair and the sand of your toes before you're ready for a light refreshment and maybe a chat with the other students.

#9

How does the windsurf course run from start to finish?

A windsurf course starts out with your arrival at the surf café 5-10 minutes before the start of the course. Here, you will be welcomed by our instructors who can also answer any question you might have regarding the course. Then we'll find the wetsuit and life jacket that's right for you, after which you'll don your new surf uniform. Once all participants are dressed, we welcome you all and present the day's programme at the café. We then walk to the beach together and start the day's windsurfing lesson. For your first surf course, you and the other first-timers will get a short but thorough introduction on land to the equipment and basic windsurfing techniques (typically 10-15 minutes) before we hit the water together. We'll windsurf for just over an hour during which you'll continuously get tips and tricks from your instructors, and then we'll take a short break with some cold refreshments from the surf café before heading out for the 2nd and final surf session of the course. Here we continue training for another hour, and by then you will most likely feel tired yet satisfied, and we'll round off the surf session with high-fives and sweet music in the surf café!

Do people usually sign up alone or with friends?

It's always mixed! About half of our cool surf students arrive solo, and the other half have one or more surf buddies with them. So whether you arrive alone, join in with your friends, your girlfriend or have your grandma under your arm - it's all normal. You'll be surfing with 12 other aspiring windsurfers who are just as excited as you are. So get going - your future surf buddies are waiting for you - book your surf course now Here.

#11

How many participants can join a windsurf course?

There are 13 participants and 2 skilled surf instructors on our windsurfing courses on Amager. After 7 years of constant development and fine-tuning of our windsurfing courses, we have found that this number is most optimal to ensure both maximum benefit from the surf lessons and the opportunity to create a great community with your surf buddies!

#12

What is the difference between you and the traditional windsurf clubs on Sjælland?

The difference between us and a windsur club is that we are not limited by volunteer forces. We are fortunate enough to be able to devote all our time and energy to providing you with the absolute best windsurfing experience. This means that we have carefully thought out even the smallest details about windsurfing. Our instructors are incredibly dedicated and our surf equipment is the absolute best on the market. In other words, you only have to focus on one thing when you surf with us: enjoying your surf session! We recommend everyone who dreams of becoming a windsurfer to take our kick-off program
. You can then continue on our Master Class Program, which is our version of a windsurf club in Copenhagen, exactly as we think a surf club should be: With a focus on social unity, fresh and top quality surf equipment, and professional instruction. This way, it is both easy and fun to windsurf in Copenhagen.

I have a gift card, how do I use it?

If your gift certificate is issued by Copenhagen Surf School - just use the green button "use certificate" and enter your current booking code when booking Here.
If your gift card is from GoDream, TrueStory or GoGift then you need to send us picture(s) of all the gift card details that you hold to our email: info@copenhagensurfschool.dk. We will then send you a new booking code, which you can use to book your next surf course Here.

#14

What about cancelling and moving a booked surf course?

We've made it easy for you to rebook and cancel your single windsurfing courses, as long as you do so at least 5 days before your booked time. Simply follow the instructions in your order confirmation. After the 5-day deadline, it is no longer possible to reschedule or cancel a single windsurfing course, because even though our windsurfing courses are almost always fully booked several weeks in advance, you are taking up a spot from another surfer, and with less than 5 days until the course starts, we may not always be able to book a new participant.

#15

What language will the instructor speak?

All of our instructors are fluent in Danish and English (and some even speak German and Swedish). So you will be taught in the language you prefer.

#16

What about cancellation and rescheduling of a fixed start-up or Master Class course?

If you simply let us know at least 30 days before your course starts, we can either reschedule your participation to a later date or issue you with a gift card that you can use to book a similar course at your convenience. It will not be possible to be compensated after this 30-day deadline and it will not be possible to be partially compensated if you miss some lessons along the way, as you will occupy a seat for the entire course regardless of whether you show up or not.

#17

What is your GDPR Policy?

We take good care of your data - you can access our terms and conditions and privacy policy Here.

#18

Where can I learn more about the Danish surfing community?

You can hop onto our own surf blog or visit our good friends from surf lounge for more windsurfing inspiration.

About Team Activities

#1

Which Team Activities can we choose from?

We offer 3 different team activities, which can be added and/or combined according to your needs! Choose for example our 1,5 hour action-packed XL SUP RACE, where speed and excitement await! If you prefer peace and quiet  then you will love our 1,5 hour SUP course, in which you can explore the magical lagoons of Amager Strandpark. For those who have an extra hour and like new challenges, our 2,5 hour windsurfing course will surely be a hit - but beware, surfing is highly addictive!

#2

How many participants can/should we have?

Our events require, at the least, 6 participants. On the other hand, we have the capasity to host events for as many as 100 people. So whether you're a small group, a larger group or a huge group, we'll find an event, that suits your needs.

#3

How do we book?

Fill out the form at the bottom of this page and receive a non-binding offer within 24 hours (most likely much faster). Once we have agreed on the event, date and price, we will send you an invoice. When the invoice is paid, the event is booked.

#4

How and when do we pay?

Full payment is made in advance of the event. You can either receive an invoice and pay via bank transfer or pay via MobilePay.

 #5

Do we need to know the exact number of participants in advance?

To be able to provide you an offer, we need to know approximately how many participants you expect to be. We will agree on a fixed price for your event, which will not change, if you turn out to be a few participants less or one participant more. If on the day you are significantly fewer participants than expected, we will not refund part of the original event price.

#6

How about possible cancellation or rescheduling of our time?

We take care of cancel with full refund up to 14 days before the activity, and you can reschedule your time up to 7 days before the original date of the activity. After that, under normal circumstances, it is not possible to rebook or cancel events - but we are of course not unreasonable if sudden restrictions due to COVID-19 prevent the holding of an activity. In this case, we will find a solution together.

#7

What time should we arrive, and what should we bring?

You need to arrive at the surf school 5-10 minutes before your activity starts and just bring your swimwear and a good mood, we'll do the rest! And remember, the café also offers light refreshments to satisfy your thirst or hunger before, during and after your event.

#8

What about changing rooms and storage for personal belongings?

Changing rooms are available on arrival at the surf school, and we will of course take good care of your personal belongings and keep them safe while you're on the water.

#9

Is it possible to shower after being in the water?

We have an outdoor shower so you can easily rinse the salt water out of your hair and the sand off your toes after your activity. Once you've dried off, it's time to round off the day's session, for which we highly recommend our crispy sourdough paninis and ice-cold Hawaiian drinks in the café.

#10

Transportation to and from the surf school?

The surf school is easily accessible by bike, car or metro. The address Amager Strand Promenaden 1, 2300 Copenhagen S will take you straight to our doorstep, and there are good parking facilities as well, regardless if you're on 2 or 4 wheels . If you're traveling by metro, hop off at Amager Strand Station, follow the kilometre bridge, turn right and continue, until you hit bunker 3 - This is when we'll meet!
